Who:

I am Janet McKean and while my LOST & FOUND business is fairly new, I am not new to the business. My strength and passion is in finding and sharing new products with retailers and in growing businesses.

I have worked in large department stores, boutiques and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago before venturing out on my own in 1993 to create Found Objects. Found Objects was a business that grew and changed over the years. It was a wonderful mix of representation, distribution, licensing, product development, consulting and one of the very first online stores.

As Found Objects I introduced and represented Magnetic Poetry, Santa Barbara and Sun’s Zen Board and Scary Stories. I represented the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I designed and created product for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art and MASS MOCA while licensing product with Jenny Holzer.

LOST & FOUND is my new business specializing in representation. It was founded, created and rolled out in August 2011 at the New York International Gift Fair. I can now be found in the Lifestyle section of the NY:NOW Show at the Javits Center twice a year in January/February and in August.

What:

LOST & FOUND is a boutique representation company representing only a handful of artists, designers and small manufacturers of thoughtful, creative gifts. I love the challenge of bringing the work being created in select studios to the marketplace. I work closely with museum stores, gift stores, galleries, catalogues and online stores. It is important to me to be available and hands on. I truly believe that nurturing relationships is good business for everyone.
